Update From The GC

Wow, never in a million years did I expect to see myself blogging my life away. Giving people insights into my life and expressing my opinions on topics whether they be personal or general affairs. Then again I didn't expect to be 2500km away from home, 2500km away from what the place I became so familiar with. 2500km away from my family and friends (exemption given to the ever growing list of friends migrating to the desert of Kalgoorlie) in their case never would I have thought moving to the same country would mean being further away from one another than if one of us stayed in New Zealand! What I'm trying to say is for me moving to the Gold Coast was a huge step in my life, leaving everything I had built in the last 17s years behind and moving to a place which has 550,000 more people then Upper Hutt, where out of those 550,000 I knew roughly 20 people, of course they were families who were originally from Upper Hutt themselves. So for me change was in order, and now being four and a half months into this change I can say it wasn't easy but with risk comes reward.

As I just mentioned before for four and a half months now I have called the Gold Coast home. Gosh time has gone fast, it seems like yesterday I was out there with my brothers bringing home that SK cup for the 3rd straight year. Its those memories I will keep closest with me. Most kids my age were all to eager to leave school. Where as for me I didn't want to leave, I loved school not so much the work but the perks that came with going to school. Perhaps in another addition I will look more in depth into them but for now I should really get back to updating you on how things are going.

My first night here was New Years Eve, man that was long. 5am my normal time was only 2am their time. I had planned well however, I invested in two redbulls to keep me going (Sorry Mr Wilson). It was a good night catching up with friends I had not seen in years and in some cases meeting new people. New years had past and for me I treated the whole month of January as sort of a holiday. For the first few weeks Keenan and Ethan showed me everything the Gold Coast had to offer and in all honestly there is some really good talent here if you know what I mean =). Towards the end of January we were re-united with Caleb who returned from a lengthly trip in New Zealand. Never had I been so excited to see the guy, and for the rest of January it was us four continuing to just well quite frankly enjoy life in the Gold Coast.

When February rolled round it was time get on with life. I quickly started the job hunt and within days had success with an interview. Unfortunately I was unsuccessful and this was to prove costly. I Would keep trying to find a job but nothing was working out. Eventually I got a call from Bunnings Warehouse and by the time March came I was happily employed. Big shout out to the bro Paki for giving us the heads up to apply at Bunnings! February also ment the start of Rugby! coming over here i was adamant that I was going to play league. But through no fault of their own the boys wanted to stay loyal and continue playing for their rugby club. So to keep things easy I went with them. People told me playing in heat would be harder and man they were so right. Imagine a scorching hot day in New Zealand, times that by 2 and then imagine playing rugby in it. Yeah lucky it was four 20 minute quarters for the first few games, otherwise a trip to the GC hospital was probably on the cards for me. Feb and March pretty much consisted of Work, Rugby and the Gym. Substitute work with school and that was a routine I was all to familiar with.

Although I have not touched on April yet I feel like I have written the 8th Harry Potter book here so that'll be it for this "edition". I will look to keep doing this as it was quite fun. Your guys feedback would be really valuable to me and ill try use that to improve my next blog. Hope it wasnt to boring for ya!
